The trip south that… Sorta happened?

MM and I took off on Friday afternoon to head down to his hometown.  His grandmother, G, turned 90 on Saturday, and we wanted to spend time with her as well as MM’s mom, P.

The plan was to take P, G, and P’s husband out for a really nice dinner, spend lots of time with them Friday night and Saturday, complete with a super cute lunch with P and G.  We’d leave Sunday morning, and head over to visit my brother, D1, and sister-in-law, J, and the super cute baby B.  It would be my opportunity to give J her new bag, too!

The trip down was amazingly easy, with not a huge amount of traffic.  We got down there a little early, early enough to shop for shoes!  We picked up P and G for dinner, as MM’s stepfather was down with a sinus infection, or something similar.

Dinner out was wonderful.  Excellent food, wonderful service, and good company.

That is, until about halfway through, when we could tell that P was starting to feel really crummy.  Really, really crummy.

Worried about making sure she was going to get enough sleep, MM and I decided to change plans a bit, and stay at G’s house overnight.

The next morning, P called to tell us that she felt worse than ever, and didn’t think she’d be up to going to the special lunch that she had planned with G and us.  So, it was time to start making the best of things!  MM, G and I had breakfast at G’s house, and then MM and I headed out to the nearest grocery store to pick up the fixings for Chicken and Dumplings.  I figured that there was no way P would be up for making any food for herself or for her husband, and G had been expecting lunch out, so we all would be needing to eat something.

MM visited with G while I made the food (with help from both of them to shred the chicken), which she enjoyed quite a bit.  Once we were done, I spooned enough out for the both of them, and then we said our goodbyes to head over to P’s house.

She was truly miserable, so we dropped off the things we had brought to them, and took our leave so as not to keep her up and to decrease the possibility of catching what they had!

On to my brother’s house, a day early!  We hung out there, playing with B for a while, and gave J her bag, which she really liked!  Success!  B’s getting so big, and has hit 6 months.  We have a super cute nephew!

MM and I headed home after that, making it back to our house in the early evening.  It sucked that P was sick, and that we couldn’t spend the time we wanted with her, but it was also nice to come home and sleep in our own bed before switching to Daylight Saving Time.

Speaking of which, if you’re as irritated with the time change, and the impending crappy Monday that it brings as me…  Just scroll back up and check out that cutie – either my nephew, or MM, your choice!  It’s sure to make you feel better!
