I’m still struggling with the duffel pattern.
I feel like I’m making a little progress with that Orange Chicken recipe that I mentioned in a previous post.
Anyway, this pattern is driving me crazy. I’m digging the rivets, and I think that once it’s done, I’ll be happy with it. But putting it together is like pulling teeth.
So, I’ve started over. Luckily, I had enough fabric for both the interior and exterior, and the sides of the bag are good, which means I don’t have to redo those. More difficult to get my hands on are the webbing for the straps. Since I’d put some rivets in, I couldn’t reuse what I had.
This time around, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do things a little easier, now that I know what I’m supposed to do.
I’m also thinking that I should always start new projects with cheaper fabric. That way I can get a draft of the thing done, and be able to do the “real” bag with fewer mistakes.
I’ll be continuing this weekend, though the webbing may not arrive until next week. But I can do a bunch of the steps right up to the webbing, right?
More later.
