Fun Couple’s Night and Quiet Weekend

Friday night found MM and I at home, welcoming a couple friends of ours over for dinner.  I used the tried and true recipe of Slow Cooker Cheese Stuffed Meatballs, with Penne and garlicky green beans as the sides.  I also tried out a new Tuscan bread recipe, which turned out okay, but needs perfecting before I post any more about that.

Dinner at our house was a blast, the food was great, and the company even better – especially when that company brings really, really awesome cupcakes!

The rest of the weekend saw me lounging around the already cleaned lower floor of the house (since it had to be for company – duh), completely ignoring the fact that I could be doing the same to the upper floor of the house.  After all, I had a new scrapbooking software site to explore!  And so, that’s how I got a scrapbook of my chorus’s trip to Russia in 2007 finally created.  It’s currently being printed, and should arrive at my door in a week or so.  Not too shabby.  And I don’t mind using the Russia trip as the “test” project on the site either.  It’s not like I can’t make a new one if it doesn’t come out the way I want it to.

Today was a busy, but productive day, followed by a not so great discovery when arriving home – a large picture frame with a collage of pictures from trips that MM and I have taken since 2011 had fallen off the wall.  Luckily, the glass only chipped, while the frame is pretty much completely busted.  I’m not sure what we’re going to be doing about that in the future.

And so, I leave you tonight with the recipe handed down by one of my many aunts for Penne with Sausage and Broccoli.  It’s a pretty easy recipe that serves 6 and reheats well.  And, it’s pretty darn healthy.  Of course, that’s all dependent on how much cheese you add to it once you get it in your dish…
