Time to Leave the Country

For a vacation, I swear!

You all know that we’ve traveled to Europe on the regular, and MM has been able to get to China for work – but I had never been across the Pacific. And with the recent pandemic, not a lot of travel has been possible. 🙁

Enter Australia!

There were so many things to do – it had been so long since we’ve been outside the US, so I had to remember what preparing for that should look like. Luckily, I’ve written a lovely little page for this site that I was able to go back and read again to remind me of the things that I should consider. Granted, that was for Europe, but I could reuse many of the suggestions!

Every other time that I’ve been outside of the country, I’ve taken my large, every day journal with me to write what we’ve done during the day. And I’m usually constantly behind – after all, who has energy every evening to write down, in full, what we did all day? On a recent trip with the ladies to an island, I noticed a nifty way they were doing things. Using much thinner notebooks, they’d quickly write down bulleted lists of what happened through the day. Some were more descriptive than others, but it helped to jog the memory when working on future scrapbooks. So I took a page out of their notebooks (yes, pun intended), and added some cute doodles on a few pages in my bullet journal with the intention of quick note taking for the trip. (And it WORKED!)

I think I’m going to take all the notes and type them verbatim (mostly) in the back of the scrapbook I’m now working on.

Highlights of our trip included the Hunter Valley Small Group Wine, Gin, Cheese & Chocolate Tour from Sydney, run by Daves Tours…

Our trip out with Anderson’s Tours on the All Inclusive Small-Group Blue Mountains Day Trip from Sydney with Scenic World

And our lovely walk through the Royal Botanic Garden. Seriously, so many pictures of flowers are now in my Australia 2023 album!

Australia was a trip of a lifetime, and I’m really hoping that MM and I have a chance to go back. We had such a great time, and there’s so much more to explore than we were able to in the week that we had!
