Three projects down, a recipe trial, and a little break

I completed the duffel bag for MM a couple weeks ago, and created a page for it.  While I’m happy with it, and the fact that I tried a new pattern with a whole lot more hardware than I would normally use, I feel like I can do better in the future.  Perhaps another bag will be made in the future that I’ll swap out without MM knowing…  If only I could find the lining fabric that he likes so much.

As soon as I finished up the duffel, I turned my attention to the Riviera bags that I said I would make for those foreign coworkers I’ve mentioned before.  And now they’re done!  I’ve added pictures of those three bags to the Riviera Bag page (the second part has the new pictures), just as an example of how a plan can come together (the plan – use the same four fabrics for each bag, just varying where those fabrics are used).  I think they turned out really well!

At about that time, I planned on getting the rest of T’s weekender bag lining fabric cut out, and at least started.  But then I realized that B’s birthday (his first!!) was coming up, and I hadn’t done anything about it.  Cue a visit to my favorite kids’ toy site, another trip to the fabric store, and a weekend of sewing and stuffing, and that was done!

In the meantime, I’ve made that Orange Chicken recipe about 4 more times.  It’s pretty light on the calorie side, and I think I’ve gotten it to where it needs to be for me to be happy to it.  The seasoning is still a bit to be desired, but I’m going to post a page on it shortly as it is, to give all you lovely readers (okay, so there are 5 of you, I think) the opportunity to tweak as you see fit.

Then, due to an unexpected visit from an in-law this past weekend, I took a break.  I still haven’t gotten to T’s lining (that was supposed to be Sunday – a jog, mid-morning to mid afternoon errands, and the couch ended up taking over my day), but with a super long weekend coming, I have a feeling I’ll make progress there.  Then again, I’ve been getting distracted a lot lately, and this weekend is long enough for me to start looking at recipes to try or practice…  I’m sure I’ll get something done!
