Kegger’s Review:

Let’s be honest.

This is a filler movie.  It’s being used to fill in the time between the more popular hero movies for the different characters of The Avengers, and sometimes, plot points that need to be continued are thrown into this movie to keep things moving along.

That’s literally the only thing that this movie has going for it.

Don’t get me wrong.  I did like the interaction of Scott (Paul Rudd) and his daughter.  The opening scenes with the two of them, and Scott’s business partner are very cute, and speak to the non-super hero life that he has.  I do think that he is humorous, and in general, I like him.

Hope van Dyne?  She annoys the shit out of me.  I should dig her – she’s a strong female character, driven in her pursuit to find her mother.  I am absolutely glad that we have a main female character that does not hinge her actions and feelings based off of the main male character.  I’m just not a fan of her character in general.  She’s incredibly one-dimensional – there’s no real depth to her, in my opinion.

But I really did not like the plot of this movie.  It was just so boring.  The villain was moderately compelling, but by the time we got there, I just didn’t care anymore.

It’s possible that there were plot connections or interesting things that happened during the movie that I just didn’t catch or didn’t care enough to think about.  That being said, other than Scott’s comedic value, I don’t see the point of these movies.

The best part was the end of the movie which finally tied back into Avengers: Infinity War.  And that scene was about 3 minutes long.

I can’t wait to get back into the meat of the story with Avengers: End Game.  Should probably watch Captain Marvel first, though…

MMs Review:

Utterly forgettable. I’m trying to do right here and give a thorough review, but I can’t remember enough of it to say why I didn’t care for it.

I should probably start by saying I didn’t love the first one. I’d probably give it 3 stars, in retrospect, but I’m not inclined to watch it again…ever.

This one definitely doubled-down on Paul Rudd being Paul Rudd. I’m good with that in small doses, but as the leading man, I’m not a huge fan. Since he’s already zany, they gave him even zanier comic. It isn’t awful, but I never felt any kind of sense danger.

I absolutely forgot that Laurence Fishburne was even in this movie until I just asked Kegger. I know they do the whole playing around with size thing a lot, and there’s a decent fight scene, but I was just mostly bored throughout.
