I have about 8 books from Book of the Month club in a bag next to my bed, waiting for me to find the motivation to get back to reading.  I’ve traveled a bit, and have therefore taken my e-reader (Kindle Paperwhite, if you’re curious) – MM has made suggestions of things to read, and I picked up a book that I’ll review later from Amazon that was a little YA, but still enjoyable.  Most recently, I took the advice of MM and a friend of ours to read a “whodunit” book.  It was very enjoyable, made me laugh and while it took me longer to finish it than MM expected (I blame getting food poisoning), I still liked it.

But I immediately picked up Part of Your World from the pile next to my bed when I finished MM’s choice.  And freakin’ FLEW through it.

Why?  Good question.  It’s a romance novel, and therefore, an HEA is absolutely expected.  There’s something about knowing that there’s going to be an HEA that takes all the stress out of reading a book for me.  I just get to enjoy the story, figure out what makes the characters tick, and enjoy the interplay between them.  There’s also fun to be had with the secondary and tertiary characters in situations like this as well.

All that being said, I really enjoyed this book.  Really, REALLY enjoyed it.  Yes, it’s a romance.  Yes, it may have a formula.  But I think I just figured out why it was so enjoyable for me – it reminded me of Jennifer Crusie.  I love her (I’m keeping that understated, because I’ve already capitalized far too many words in this review already), and I haven’t read anyone similar to her in such a long time.

In any case, it’s your classic opposites attract sort of book, with all of the awesome side characters, miscommunications, and solid conclusion that someone like me would look for in a romance novel.  It made me laugh, made me root for all the characters I was supposed to root for, and dislike all of the ones I was supposed to dislike.  It even had the ability to weave in some serious issues (domestic abuse) in very realistic ways.

And any movie that quotes The Princess Bride at me is automatically a winner.

So, if you’re looking for a fun, flirty, and fast read, look no further.  Loved it.  Will probably keep it.  May read it again.  🙂
