It’s been ridiculously hot in my neck of the woods, so despite the fact that MM loves the warmth, we’ve been lounging in our AC.
But that doesn’t mean it hasn’t gotten warm inside anyway, especially in the kitchen. 🙂
I’ve gone a bit crazy with the baking lately. Mostly, I’ve been haunting SeriousEats.com, learning how to make pie crusts and fillings, and other types of pastry, the latest being that of the puff variety, and homemade bagels. I’m not satisfied that I have any set of techniques down, but at least I’ve been trying. Nothing I’m ready to share, necessarily, especially regarding the recipes or the techniques. At least not yet. But I think I can share a couple pictures:

Meanwhile, MM and I have been busy – First with movie watching. We’re way behind in our movie watching if we want to get to 52 seen by the end of the year. And to make matters worse, the latest ones have been kind of crappy, if I’m honest.
In addition, we’ve finally gotten around to putting more of our thoughts about Rome together for friends of ours. We’ve rounded out or pages on Rome, completing the sites to see page! The benefits are all yours, friends! Check them all out over on the Travel page.
Next projects are going to have to be gifts, as there are birthdays coming up! I’m not going to lie, though – I’ve been enjoying my kitchen quite a lot lately… Maybe next I should work on cakes (after the gifts, I mean). Any suggestions on flavors?

If you ever need a taste tester for your baking trials, I’m available. I’ve never been good at pie crusts.
