And you just have to make a cutie in response.
If you’ve been around this blog long enough, you know that I’ve fallen for the stuffed animals that can be found on Funky Friends Factory – a pattern maker located in Australia. I have made so many animals for my nephews, my niece, and so many other friends along the way, and I love every single one of them (there are a couple special ones, like the monkey, elephant, kangaroo, and t-rex).
Now I have another favorite!
I was lucky enough to meet a friend of MM’s (who is a former colleague) recently, along with his partner and new baby. This new family was so sweet, funny, and kind, that I immediately knew that I wanted to make something special for them. Seeing what their theme for their nursery pointed me in exactly the direction I needed.
As is always the case, figuring out the colors was the first problem. But once I did, it really didn’t take me long to get this little guy finished.

Let me tell you – with the first step complete, the creation of the ears, I didn’t know if this one was going to make it out of my house. The ears ALONE told me that this was going to be an incredibly cute animal… Might need to make one for me…

Once I added those ears to this face… OMG OMG! SO FREAKING CUTE!
I made many, many mistakes in putting this together, but I only had to rip out a seam once. What that tells you is that the pattern is pretty forgiving. One of the many reasons why I love Funky Friends.
And here it is:

Not the best picture, and I didn’t catch enough of the tail to show you how gorgeously this pattern came together. I did add the name of the new baby to one of the feet (thank goodness for an embroidery stitch on my machine), and my own special label, just ’cause. I’m leaving it to the newest member of their family to name the fox, even though it’s been given a girl name on the website. Baby’s choice, when he can speak! 🙂
But let me tell you – the Funky Friends Factory Fifi Fox pattern is one I’m going to be making again. Probably for myself (I’m thinking blue or purple for the main fabric), just cause I can.
What do you think?

So cute. I might have to look into Funky Friends now that my quilting days are behind me.
