Literally one of my favorite books, for a few reasons.
- Jennifer Crusie can do no wrong in my eyes
- Her collaborations with Bob Mayer are awesome
- This is one of the few books that are romance related that MM also enjoys
- I love the resolution and HEA
- I can come back to this book over and over, and still enjoy every page
Agnes is a flawed character, one who is loved by her closest friends and grows her chosen family over the span of a week. I love the internal voice of her character that comes through. I love the understanding that she has of those around her, and that those around her are so easily embraced by her. Those closest to her from the beginning turn around and give her that same level of support and understanding.
That’s where Jennifer Crusie shines. Strong women who are able to find or leverage their chosen family, sometimes over their blood families, humor, and charm. I <3 Crusie! 🙂
I picked this up again, probably for the fourth time, because I’d seen that Bob Mayer had come out with a couple books as a follow up and wanted to read them while I was out on vacation. But it had been a while since I’d read Agnes, and decided that I should read it through again, just to make sure that I’d be able to catch any references.
Loved it. Loved it again. And now I’m off to the next Bob Mayer book!
