At some point in my past, I purchased this book on my Kindle.  I’m guessing it was because Amazon was running some kind of sale, or I was in a digital book binge type of mood.  As a result of the previous pretty bad books I’d read, I selected this one for a work trip – something simple and easy.  Bonus was that it’s set in one of my favorite places: Ireland!

What I didn’t expect was a super short book that was pretty enjoyable.  Three of the stars I gave it are because I was hoping that it would go farther than it did.  I didn’t realize when I started the book that it was the beginning of a multi-book series.  Not a trilogy, as there are at least 6 books!  I’ve now read this one and the second, “Up the Seine Without a Paddle.”  They’re enjoyable books, reminiscent of Bridget Jones’ Diary when it comes to the crazy situations Caity finds herself in.

Surprisingly, the books delve into some serious issues – sibling and parental relationships, the aftermath of abusive relationships, looking for, and attempting to find yourself.  Given the fact that I’ve only read two of the books, Caity hasn’t made stunning progress in any of the above, but it’s nice to see progress.  Slow, but realistic progress, with the expected setbacks.  The realism I found in these books was enough for me to bump my rating up another star.

I’m not going to write much more about this, because I’d be in danger of writing a longer review than the book itself.  🙂  If you’re looking for something, simple, easy, and enjoyable, look no further.

By the way, I’m not planning on reviewing the remaining books one by one – I may come back and review all 6 if/when I finish them, but don’t hold your breath!  😀
